"The players showed tremendous guts to come back from a goal down," the Town boss said after the 2-1 win.
"They looked physically and mentally drained after our Carling Cup game at Newcastle.
"We were never at our fluent best, so I was very pleased to win the game.
"We have to be prepared for games like this where the opposition try to stifle us, meaning we have to grind out the results."
