Clark holds hands up

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark admitted his side were below par after they squeezed past Carlisle into the second round of the Carling Cup. The match was heading for extra time until Jordan Rhodes tucked away Lee Novak's pass to secure a 1-0 win with barely a minute remaining. "Cup football is about winning and Carlisle can count themselves a bit unfortunate," said Clark. "Our general play was not up to the standards we showed on Saturday and we were second best in the first half. But it doesn't talk about the performance in the morning, it says Huddersfield are in the next round. "Being picky I want the players to set a good standard. Part of the make-up of the squad now is that they are resolute and with the help of some experienced lads at the back we can stand pressure and ride our luck a bit. "Jordan Rhodes looked our main goal threat and Lee Novak gave him the chance to put us in the next round. Lee could possibly have had the glory but his strike partner was in a better position and he rolled a perfect ball to him. "When the game is that close the last thing I wanted was extra time. One or two players look a bit tired so it was the perfect outcome."
