Collins joins Iron

Scunthorpe have completed the signing of Huddersfield midfielder Michael Collins for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year old, one of several players made available for offers by manager Lee Clark at the end of the season, has signed a three-year deal at Glanford Park. Clark said: "Michael has been an outstanding servant to this club and is a fantastic young man. "He's been absolutely terrific for me since I joined Huddersfield Town and I can't speak highly enough of him. "I hope he goes on to have a great career because he puts the work in every single day on the training ground and he really thinks and cares about his football. However, I felt the time is right for us to go our separate ways and I wish him the best of luck at Scunthorpe. Collins, born in Halifax, progressed through the Huddersfield academy and signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2004. He made his first-team debut against Blackpool the following February and went on to make 164 starts for the club with a further 33 appearances as substitute, scoring 22 goals.
