Macari said, "Thomas Heary and Simon Baldry are two young players in the same boat as far as we are concerned at the moment. They have come from Reserve level into the first team and shown that they can do well, becoming regulars in the senior side, so we felt they warranted first-team wages. These contract offers are a part of the club looking long-term, but we are also looking week to week and respecting what players like Simon and Thomas have done for us."
Meanwhile Heary is hopeful that Town can avoid relegation, "We’re unbeaten in nine league games and hopefully we can pick up a couple of wins to help us away from the bottom and finish in mid-table. In the last couple of games we’ve been creating chances but not enough to score. But all the lads are confident and are desperate to get another win to start a run off again."
The Huddersfield Boss has decided to wait until the summer though to discuss new contracts with Scott Sellars, Kevin Gallen, and Ken Monkou. The decision to offer the trio new contracts will hinge on their performaces between now and the end of the season. It seems likely that Lou Macari will offload some of the better-paid players at the club, to cope with the financial pressures if The Terriers are relegated.
