Media reports had suggested that Clark was keen on trying to sign the 21-year-old centre-back who had a loan spell at Norwich when Clark was assistant boss at Carrow Road.
“He’s a player we are aware of," Clark told the Daily Examiner.
“I know Jonathan well, but I have not spoken to Middlesbrough, which I would have to do if I wanted to get anything in motion ahead of the January transfer window.”
