| An injury crisis has hit Huddersfield once again, with many players set to miss out on a visit to the Reebok Stadium, this weekend. |
Simon Baldry is Lou Macari's biggest concern, as the 24-year-old is still unable to train due to a thigh injury sustained during the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, last Saturday.
The Huddersfield Town boss is not confident, "Simon's struggling and at this stage, his chances don't look too good."
Meanwhile both Jon Dyson and Ben Thornley look like overcoming their bouts of flu. Macari said, "Ben and Jon both trained yesterday and I'm optimistic they'll be available."
Scott Sellars though may miss out; as it seems unlikely he will recover in time.
Long-term casualties Clyde Wijnhard and Chris Beech have been set back in their progress from injury. Wijnhard will once again go back under the surgeon's knife, as he needs a bone-graft to help the injury to heal fully.
Manager Lou Macari said, "I think the earliest we can look forward to seeing him is at the start of next season. We could have certainly done with him. He has presence and is very powerful and strong, which it's obviously something that any team would miss. But at the moment he is out of our thoughts because we know that he is not going to play any part for the remainder of this season."
The fact that Wijnhard is still able to play football is cause enough for celebration. On August 28th last year the Dutchman's Mercedes Jeep careered off the road. Clyde managed to scramble out of the wreckage seconds before the vehicle burst into flames.
After a visit to his surgeon yesterday Chris Beech has revealed he may face yet more time on the sidelines. After pulling up with an injury on October 21 of last year Beech has been desperate to return to first team action, but all comeback attempts have failed. He was recently sent to the National Rehabilitation Centre in Lilleshall by Lou Macari to get to the root of the problem. He is now set to have an Achilles heel operation.
