Jackson was sacked by the club on Tuesday after three-and-a-half years in charge at The Galpharm Stadium.

"I'm disappointed with what's happened," he told Sky Sports News.

"50 per cent of managers this season have lost their jobs. It's always hard to take.

"I was shocked with the decision that was made, but I have to accept it and move on.

"We went down to Forest last Saturday and it was a big game, but we lost 5-1.

"Now is a time to reflect and see how I can move forward. It's a new chapter in my life now.

"I want to try and get back into management and I'm looking forward to a new challenge."
