The 19-year-old striker, who scored on his Town debut against Yeovil at the weekend, had originally signed a loan deal that would have expired on 2nd March.
However, manager Lee Clark has confirmed that Eccleston will now remain on loan at The Galpharm Stadium until the end of the season.
"Paperwork takes time and we had to ensure he was available for the Yeovil game so we put it through for a month," Clark told the club's official website.
