Town came from a goal behind to win 2-1 at The Galpharm Stadium on Saturday afternoon courtesy of goals from Lee Novak and Jordan Rhodes.
"When we played with the tempo and intensity that we know we can, we created chances," the Town boss said after the match.
"The performance was a bit flat. We were not at our fluid best.
"I'm delighted with the result as we won without playing particularly well. We've not done that too often.
"Novak and Rhodes were our best two players. They worked very hard and created chances for themselves, each other and other players. They are proving to be a good combination."
