Striker Paul Jevons scored twice in six second-half minutes to secure Yeovil's League One status and probably end Huddersfield's automatic promotion hopes.

Jevons, who has now scored five goals in as many matches, levelled the scores at 1-1 with a penalty awarded on 66 minutes for Town defender Danny Adams' trip on Arron Davies.

Ex-Grimsby frontman Jevons then struck a brilliant free-kick in off the crossbar six minutes later after Huddersfield's Martin McIntosh was penalised for holding back David Poole.

The Terriers had taken an early lead through striker David Graham's powerful finish into the bottom left-hand corner of the net after he was put clear by McIntosh's flick-on of a cross delivered from the left by Adams.

Graham has now scored nine goals since joining the club on loan in January until the end of the season from neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.

Adams, meanwhile, was in the thick of the action throughout, and should have been sent off before half-time. He was booked on 12 minutes for a horrible lunge on Andy Lindegaard and should have picked up a second yellow card 12 minutes later for a late tackle on Poole.

Adams should also have been booked again for the foul on Davies that led to the penalty in the second half as he was the last man - but referee Grant Hegley felt the spot-kick was punishment enough.

The visitors could have made a stunning start when Jevons headed over from Colin Miles' cross on just 37 seconds.

Other than that, Yeovil rarely attacked and relied on Terry Skiverton and Paul Terry to thwart wave after wave of Huddersfield attacks.

And when Town got the better of them they found keeper Stephen Collis, replacing knee injury victim Chris Weale, in good form.

Collis blocked Mark Hudson's goalbound shot with his legs on 49 minutes and then clawed Andy Booth's header off the line a minute later.

Huddersfield, who needed at least a point to guarantee a play-off spot, will now have to endure a nervy last day trip to Swindon next Saturday to confirm a top-six finish.
