Two goals in four minutes from striker James Hayter rescued Bournemouth who should have been well beaten before half time.

Huddersfield totally outplayed the Cherries for much of the first half and went in at the break two goals up.

But the Terriers failed to press home the advantage in the second half and young defender Tom Clarke conceded a penalty to allow Bournemouth back into the game.

Hayter converted the spot-kick in the 66th minute before clinching a point with a cool finish four minutes later.

Bournemouth had to be grateful to keeper Gareth Stewart for keeping them in the game. He made several good saves to ensure his side had every chance to salvage something after the break.

Chris Brandon and Pawel Abbott had good early chances for Huddersfield as the League One high-fliers played some attractive flowing football.

Injury hit Bournemouth were steam-rollered early on and the opener came in the 14th minute when Brandon robbed Callum Hart and broke away down the right. He centred for Jonathan Worthington who shaped to shoot but rolled a pass to Danny Schofield who lashed home off the underside of the bar.

Seven minutes later Huddersfield doubled the lead through Gary Taylor-Fletcher who pounced on Abbott's deflected header.

After the break Huddersfield should have sealed the win but Abbott's header landed on the roof of the net and Schofield danced through and beat two men before forcing Stewart into a full-length save.

Bournemouth grabbed a lifeline when Clarke brought down Andrew Surman and Hayter sent Paul Rachubka the wrong way.

Four minutes later Hayter cashed in on a long ball to snatch the leveller with a cool finish.

Huddersfield mustered little after that although Brandon shaved a post in stoppage time.
