Paul Green salvaged a vital point with a second equaliser as Doncaster Rovers came from behind to draw 2-2 against Huddersfield Town with ten men.

Rovers had a battering in the first half as Huddersfield, who sacked boss Andy Ritchie on Tuesday, played some of their best football of the season.

Midfielder Green capped a fine all-round performance with the leveller six minutes from time.

Huddersfield went ahead in the seventh minute when Nathan Clarke's long throw came off Steve Roberts' head and Robbie Williams cracked home left-footed.

Town midfielder Jon Worthington, who was relieved of the captaincy by caretaker boss Gerry Murphy this week, played with renewed freedom.

He pushed forward at every opportunity and had three chances to seal the game for the home side. He fired just over, had a cool finish ruled out for offside and then struck a low shot against the post.

Town keeper Matt Glennon pulled off a superb fingertip save to deny Jason Price but that was Rovers' only serious effort on goal in the first half.

Boss Sean O'Driscoll replaced strikers Price and Paul Heffernan five minutes before the break, such was his displeasure with his forwards.

Price's replacement Gareth Taylor equalised for Rovers in the 52nd minute from Green's cross.

Doncaster thought they had blown their chances in the 59th minute when defender Matthew Mills was sent off for pushing over Chris Brandon who was clean through just outside the box.

Andy Holdsworth made Rovers pay again when he bent the resulting free-kick around the wall and into the bottom corner.

Rovers refused to buckle and James Coppinger laid on a point-saver for Green who smashed home a powerful finish across Glennon and into the far corner.
