If Mick Wadsworth doesn't have the players in for training tomorrow moring
then he should be sacked. Town were outclassed by a colchester side that were noting special them selfs.
It started brightley for town as within seconds Baldry took the ball in to the area, layed it back for Smith, only Towns top scorer saw his shot deflected to safety. It all seemed to go downhill from there!!
The game was scrappy and niether team used the ball well, with colchester obviously here for the point, using teh long ball again and again...and it worked!! 11minutes on the clock, a ball played over the top was latched on to by Kevin Rapley. It seemed Nat Brown had the situation covered, but hesitation by both him and Bevan allowed Rapley in to put The U's 1 up.
Towns first real effort came on 23 minutes when Kevin Sharps free-kick was cleared to the edge of the area, were Smithy Failed to trouble the keeper with an over-head kick.
Town nearley Went 2 down after Nat Brown lost the ball and Rapley lobbed Bevan only to see his effort hit the bar. A let off for Brown who was having a 'mare!!
HT TOWN 0 COLCHESTER 1
Danny Schofield came on for Nat Brown at half time with, listern carefully, Simon Baldry going to right back!!!!
Schofield looked sharp and won a free-kick for Town on the deadball line, Thorrington's cross could not be met with enough accuracy though by Smith.
Scott Bevan nearley did a 'Prudhoe' (Stoke '96?) when he slipped going to clear the ball, thankfully, it didn't have enough momentum on it and the big stopper on loan from Southampton, was able to recover.
Town were even worse n the second half than they were in the first, with it seeming like Scott Bevan was getting more backpasses than in all the previous games before!
Wadsworth made a double subtitution with 10 minutes to go with Jon Dyson coming on for Simon Baldry and Scott Mcdonald for Smith. Dyson moved in the centre of defence with Jenks taking his natural Right Back position up.
McDonald caused trouble in his last game for the Terriers, and it was his run in to the box and shot, that hit the post, and bounced back out for Stead to fire in the the net.
It was an undeserved point really, but a point it is. Town will have to play better or they will get hammered by Bristol on Tuesday night.
