Wycombe and Huddersfield fought out a bore draw with neither side looking like they had the ability to score a goal.

The home side did put the ball in the net on 75 minutes, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

This game was severely lacking in both chances and excitement, but Huddersfield were the winners, gaining a valuable point in their effort to avoid relegation. The finishing from both sides throughout was atrocious, and the excitement factor was zero.

Just past the quarter hour mark Wycombe striker Craig Faulconbridge failed to connect with a cross-shot from strike partner Stuart Roberts. Then on 37 minutes wing-back Keith Ryan wasted a great chance, shooting wide of the far post from eight yards, while in acres of space in the penalty area.

The hosts found defending the cross ball difficult, former Sheffield Wednesday forward Andy Booth heading wide after a cross from Martin Smith.

Smith carved out an opportunity for himself after 25 minutes, shooting just wide from 20 yards with the Chairboys keeper Frank Talia beaten.

The Chairboys did have the ball in the net on 75 minutes, Faulconbridge heading in a Danny Senda cross, but the celebrations were cut short by the linesman's flag for offside.

In added-on time, home midfielder Michael Simpson danced around keeper Scott Bevan but pushed the ball too far and the angle was too tight for him to finish.

Lawrie Sanchez said after the game: "It was a very dire encounter. I am particularly disappointed that we were not able to collect all three points, however we knew that it was going to be difficult game as Huddersfield were always going to get men back behind the ball and scrap for a point.

"We had two penalty claims turned down and what looked like a good goal from Craig Faulconbridge ruled out for offside. I thought that we were the better side throughout, but never managed to create the clear-cut chance that would give us victory." Huddersfield manager, Mick Wadsworth said: "This was a good point for us and I was particularly pleased with the team's attitude and the overall performance.

"We have lost at times this season having played far better, but have been too open at the back and in the end it has cost us dear.

"I felt we had good chances in the game, but were not able to put them away and that has been our problem all season."
