Clark praises eager Terriers

Lee Clark hailed the performance of his players after Huddersfield opened the season with a 3-0 win at League One newcomers Notts County. Anthony Pilkington struck either side of a goal from Jordan Rhodes as the Terriers, who were knocked out at the semi-final stage of last season's play-offs, proved they are likely to once again be among the sides gunning for promotion this term. Clark said: "They've done what was asked of them, what we've worked on all week. I thought they put in a terrific performance, an all-round performance as well. "As the away team we were more than happy, we nullified them. This is a club on a high, we knew they'd had a fantastic season last year and everything about the place was buzzing so we knew we had to stifle that and I think we did." Clark, who started five of his new signings at Meadow Lane, added: "I thought everybody to a man did their job properly and were very good. The reason why (the new signings) gelled so quickly is the backing I had from the owner and board of directors to bring them in so early in the summer. "Most of these signings have been with us from day one of pre-season, so that's vital, and that's happened on both summer transfer windows and has been a massive boost for us. It means I've got the majority of them in first day of pre-season so they do that integration with the players and with me and the staff, so that's a big thank you to them."
