Huddersfield’s hot property Jon Stead condemned Kidderminster to their fourth straight defeat by slamming in his ninth goal of the season at the McAlpine Stadium.

The 20-year-old is the division's second top scorer and he showed why Premiership scouts have been flocking to watch him by showing great awareness to thump in the rebound after Danny Schofield's shot was cleared off the line on 12 minutes.

The result piles the pressure on Harriers boss Ian Britton - who was given a vote of confidence by chairman Colin Youngjohns - as they have failed to win any of their last nine games.

And it could have been worse for the visitors but a second goal for Stead was ruled out on 60 minutes for offside.

Stead slipped his marker to tap in Schofield's right wing cross and was booked by Leicester referee Kevin Friend for protesting when the effort was chalked off.

The win was Huddersfield's third in a row and they have not achieved that feat since March 2002.

Kidderminster, thrashed 6-1 by Hull on Saturday, also had stopper Stuart Brock to thank for keeping them in it.

He produced a brilliant save on 73 minutes to prevent Andy Booth's bullet header from a Schofield corner flying into the net.

The Harriers best work came through Graham Ward in midfield - his prompting opened up the Town defence on several occasions - but Bo Henriksen and John Williams failed to convert the clear cut chances.

Henriksen beat three men down the left from Ward's teasing through ball but, from the striker's byline cut back, Williams totally mis-kicked when he should have scored from six yards out.

The lanky front man took a wild swing at the ball and missed it completely even though there was not a single Huddersfield defender anywhere near him.

And on 57 minutes Henriksen beat Andrew Holdsworth and Steve Yates down the left before jinking into the box to fire a shot just wide of the target.
